The artist
Gemma Gallagher
Painting & written word
Gemma Gallagher is a Belfast-born artist based in Dubai. Her paintings bring together landscape, layered colour and fragments of poetry, exploring how language and memory shape a sense of belonging. Words are written into the surface, covered and revealed again as each painting develops.
Her Resonance collection considers love and human connection through passages drawn from poetry and philosophy. Handwritten words emerge from fields of colour, inviting viewers to spend time with both the paint and the text.
Alongside her studio practice, Gallagher founded Design & Dine and has curated exhibitions connecting Irish and Emirati artists.
